Misinformed
Monsters of the Mount;
Heard
that BENEDICT HUTTON´s son RICHARD is up here are St. Mary´s University, but he
is on holidays now and I don’t know if he will be back in September. Tell him
to phone me 435-0909. Who has Benedict’s
address??
---------------
JOHN
(J.D.) MILLER starts a new job this month, Tiffany Asphalt International, a
Lubrication Oil Co. from Ohio with distribution in Canada. J.D. will be one of
their Reps in Quebec.
----------------

business where he belongs.

Belgium.
LISA is in the computer business in Puerto Ordaz,
Venezuela.
IRENE will be graduating in Architecture next
year.
YLIANA is in her 4th year High School.
---------------
Marvellous
surprise to get a letter from JOHN DARWENT, haven’t heard from him for about 30
years.
Their
weather has been very “freaky” since El NiƱo showed his head.
He
lives in U.S. and works in Peru.
He
passed on MIKE SCOTT and PHILLIP SCOTT´s addresses.
John
has 5 boys and 4 girls plus 9 grand children.
(Real
“Old Boy” ain´t he?). He collects
stamps.
----------------
PETER
BERGASSSE wrote to say he sees Fr. Ildefonse when he comes to the Benedictine
Convent in St. Lucia, also Fr. Maurice visits there as well.
All

back in September to work as a chartered Accountant with his firm.

Peter

---------------
Got
a letter from SANDY (BAHADOORSINGEN), SCIPIO SOODEN´s wife with his subs, and
they are in Barbados and have an apartment building on Worthing Beach, which is
available are reasonable rates for “Old Mounties”.

---------------
Got
a lovely letter from CLIVE BETTENCOURT – GOMES, he is no longer in Costa Rica
(lucky guy) he is in the UK. The
O.A.S.I.S. brings fond memories back to him. He has 3 girls, all born in Costa Rica. He returned to Guyana and was appalled at the
state the country is in. Clive has a
sister in Barbados who lives next door to Clive Ince, amazing. He is a God Father to Trevor Evelyn’s
Daughter, Simone.
Really
a treat to be in touch with him again.
-------------
LOVE
YOUR CHILDREN, it is easier to build a boy than it is to mend a man.
-------------
ALAIN
DEVAUX wrote to say he works with the Ministry of Agriculture in Quebec as a
plant Pathologist doing research on diseases of major crops. It’s fascinating.
He
and wife, PIERRETTE live in St. Hyacinths, Quebec.
-----------------------------------------------------
Chris
KROGH writes an epistle to enclose some most fabulous photos. (one here to get
you excited).
Finds
the O.A.S.I.S. welcome and interesting.
He
is a real “Home Body” now and has 3 kids.
DALLISON

So

His
brother KEVIN (can’t remember if he went to Mount) “BALO” went to Mount, and
DOUGLAS, where are they???
Chris

BRO.
FRANCIS still is involved with the Scouts and went on a super camp in February.
----------
KITTY
MARCUS works in the Abbey library now.
----------
Well
folks, that was quite a mouthful, but please keep writing as that is how I am
able to get all the news. And thanks a
lot, I love it.
Also,
for those who haven’t subscribed yet it is only $10.00.
Don’t
just send the money, update us on your life, kids, send photo or something. What are your hobbies??

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your inspiring message, and
for your photograph of Jean and yourself in China.
You’re both looking well, and I’m
forwarding your message to Ladislao Kertesz and a few other MSB OB’s to let
them see what they could look like when they approach 80.
Congrats to both Jean and yourself on
soon becoming grand-parents next month.
I hope everything goes well for mother
and baby.
You’re about to get sucked into the
marvellous world of grand-parenting, and remember, once that baby holds onto
your thumb, you’ll be hooked - for life.
You mentioned your brother, Chris. Now,
here’s what our DataBase says about Chris:
If there has been any change, perhaps
either he or you might update us, for the record, please:
1.
He left the Abbey School c. 1950 in Form 1.
3.
He was a Scout with the 2nd MSB Troop.
4.
He lives in Tyrone, Georgia.
5.
He works for Boeing and spends about 2 weeks every month their training
facility in Korea, where he is an instructor on their 737 NG simulator.
I don’t believe we’ve ever heard from
Chris, so perhaps this might encourage him to send in a few words to Ladislao
who prepares our Circulars for us, and whose brain-child this entire MSB
coming-together idea this has been, for the past many years.
I’m sure we’d all like to hear from you,
Chris, and to know what’s gone on / is going on in your life.
I do not have a picture of the 1949
Class, but I do have a few others, from that era, which might interest you.
I’ll attach them at the end of this email.
Thanks again for connecting. Keep well,
and God be with you and yours.
Nigel
------------------------------------------------------------------.
Hi Nigel,
I’m still around and so is my brother
Chris. Haven’t seen him for a couple of years but we talk often; our sister is
also around and is doing well. We all agree that getting old has its aches and
pains but certainly beats the alternate.
Last September, Jean and I took a tour
to China. What we saw was very impressive, they are building, building,
building - must build a new bridge every week, a new city every month, and a
new airport every six weeks. These new cities and bridges all put on some
spectacular light shows at night - especially Shanghai. The terra cotta
warriors were fascinating. Hong Kong is a bit overwhelming; everywhere is
crowded.
Spent six weeks in Florida in
January/February; nice to get away from the cold but I would not want to live
there. While we were there, I took a 9 day side trip to Costa Rica with a
birding group; 13 dedicated birders and me - I do photography. Interesting
group, well travelled, well educated and many of them had been to Asa Wright.
We have some good news this year - we
are finally going to become grandparents in early August and our younger son
has become engaged and they are planning a March wedding. Jean can hardly wait
to babysit. We are heading to Europe later this summer for a Danube River
cruise with friends. I’m still working 3 days a week.
Had lunch in NYC a couple of weeks ago
with my cousin (once removed) Ann St. Hillaire and got caught up on a lot of
Trini family doings. She told us that there were now 40,000 Venezuelan refugees
in Trinidad - cannot imagine what that is doing to the country.
Enjoyed going thru the Abbey School
Album, reading about and seeing photos of some of the people that I knew from
my days there. I was in the same class/form as Philip Clegg and recollect him
drawing horses; Trevor Matthews drew airplanes, specifically the GeeBee racing
planes. Fr. Ganteaume was my mother’s 2nd cousin but that cut no slack at MSB.
He had been our parish priest when we lived at Forest Reserve and on Sunday he
said mass at Oropuche, then Fyzabad and finished up at Forest Reserve. After
that he would stop by our house for a rum and soda.
Do you by any chance have a Jpg of the
1949 class photo? I have the one of Fr. Leo’s class that I have printed and
would like to have one of the whole school. Is the newsletter still being
published/ I haven’t seen one for some time.
My social secretary has just arrived
back home so I better get going, we are involved with a baby shower for Simona
tomorrow and need to prepare.
Best to all.

Thank you, Roger, for your email with
interesting info that Ladislao will be so happy to have of you.
You live a very engrossing life indeed.
As Nigel shared, we would love to hear
from Chris or more about him to help update our MSB Abbey School Database.
Ladislao continues to write our
Circulars which Don publishes into a Blog.
Blessings to all.................Kaz
